Warranty Policy

Effective date: July 27, 2026

DorKey Locksmith Services is a trade name of Moen Security Solutions LLC ("DorKey," "we," "us," or "our"). This Limited Warranty Policy applies to locksmith services performed and products supplied by DorKey for the original customer named on the invoice, unless different terms were disclosed and agreed to in writing before or at the time of service.

1. One-Year Workmanship Warranty

DorKey warrants its workmanship for one year from the date the service is completed, as shown on the invoice or other service record.

If a workmanship defect covered by this warranty is reported during that one-year period, DorKey will inspect the affected work and correct the covered workmanship without charging its standard service-call fee or corrective labor. This warranty applies only to the specific work described on the invoice. It is not a maintenance agreement and does not cover the failure of unrelated, preexisting, or unserviced components.

2. Parts and Products Supplied by DorKey

DorKey warrants parts, locks, hardware, keys, remotes, and other products supplied by DorKey against defects in materials for one year from the date of installation or delivery.

For a covered product defect reported during that first year, DorKey will not charge its standard service-call fee or the labor reasonably required to repair or replace the affected product.

If an eligible product carries a manufacturer's warranty lasting longer than one year, any coverage after DorKey's one-year warranty expires is governed by the manufacturer's warranty and claim requirements. DorKey will reasonably assist the customer with an eligible manufacturer claim.

After DorKey's one-year workmanship warranty has expired, a manufacturer's warranty may cover the replacement part but does not cover DorKey's service-call fee, diagnosis, removal, installation, cutting, programming, travel, shipping, or other labor unless the manufacturer or DorKey expressly states otherwise in writing. Those charges will be quoted or disclosed before additional work is performed.

3. DorKey's Warranty Remedy

For a valid claim, DorKey will take one or more of the following actions, as appropriate:

  • Reperform or correct the covered service;
  • Repair the affected DorKey-supplied product;
  • Replace the affected product with the same or a functionally comparable product; or
  • If repair or replacement is not reasonably available, offer a refund of the amount paid for the affected service or product.

If inspection shows that the issue is not covered by this warranty, DorKey may charge its standard service-call, diagnostic, labor, and parts rates. The customer will be informed of applicable charges before non-warranty work is performed.

Warranty repair or replacement does not restart the original warranty period unless DorKey states otherwise in writing or applicable law requires otherwise.

4. Service-Specific Terms

Automotive Keys, Remotes, and Programming

Coverage includes defects in a DorKey-supplied key or remote and errors in cutting or programming performed by DorKey. Coverage does not include:

  • Lost, stolen, or misplaced keys or remotes;
  • Dead or depleted batteries;
  • Normal wear to blades, shells, buttons, or markings;
  • Damage caused by impact, crushing, bending, water, heat, pets, misuse, or improper storage;
  • Vehicle battery failure, wiring faults, module failure, software or firmware changes, manufacturer updates, third-party programming, or other vehicle conditions not caused by DorKey's work; or
  • Programming lost or affected after a vehicle module, ignition, computer, or related component is replaced, repaired, reset, or modified by another party.

Rekeying, Locks, and Door Hardware

Coverage applies to the cylinders rekeyed and the hardware installed or repaired by DorKey. It does not cover failures caused by door or frame movement, loose or worn hinges, sagging, settling, warping, weather-related expansion, improper door alignment, or worn or damaged components that were not included in the authorized work.

Safe and Vault Services

Coverage applies only to the safe or vault work and replacement components identified on the invoice. Drilling, cutting, scope holes, or other methods reasonably required to open or service a safe may leave visible evidence or affect a manufacturer's fire, burglary, or other rating. Disclosed or reasonably necessary effects of an opening procedure are not workmanship defects. DorKey does not warrant that a rating or certification has been restored unless that restoration is specifically stated on the invoice.

Lockout and Opening Services

A lockout or opening service addresses the access problem existing at the time of service. It does not guarantee against a future lockout, future hardware failure, or recurrence caused by an underlying condition outside the authorized work.

5. What This Warranty Does Not Cover

This warranty does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear, routine maintenance, cosmetic changes that do not affect operation, or consumable items such as batteries;
  • Misuse, abuse, neglect, improper maintenance, contamination, corrosion, vandalism, attempted break-in, accident, fire, water, severe weather, power surge, or another outside cause;
  • A preexisting, concealed, intermittent, or unrelated condition that was not created by DorKey's work;
  • Customer-supplied or third-party-supplied products. DorKey's installation workmanship remains covered when applicable, but the supplied product itself is not;
  • Problems caused by alteration, disassembly, repair, installation, cutting, or programming performed by someone other than DorKey. Unrelated third-party work does not automatically void this warranty;
  • Work performed using inaccurate or incomplete information supplied by the customer, including incorrect vehicle, key, hardware, or ownership information;
  • Lost combinations, credentials, codes, keys, or other access information;
  • A requested result that the existing door, frame, lock, vehicle, safe, wiring, network, or other system cannot support and that was not included in DorKey's authorized scope of work; or
  • Products or replacement components that are obsolete or no longer reasonably available, except that DorKey may offer a comparable replacement or an appropriate refund as described above.

6. How to Request Warranty Service

To request warranty service:

  1. Contact DorKey at (402) 870-7640 or through the contact form on dorkeylocksmith.com before the applicable warranty period expires.
  2. Provide the customer's name, service address, approximate service date, invoice number if available, and a description of the problem. Photos or video may be requested when helpful.
  3. Take reasonable steps to prevent additional damage and stop using any product that appears unsafe.
  4. Allow DorKey a reasonable opportunity to inspect and correct the issue.

A DorKey invoice or service record may be used to confirm eligibility. Claims reported within the warranty period remain timely if DorKey schedules the inspection for a later available date.

DorKey is not responsible for charges from another locksmith, dealer, contractor, towing company, or other third party unless DorKey authorized those charges in writing beforehand, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

7. No Guarantee Against Crime or Loss

Locks, keys, access devices, safes, and security hardware are risk-reduction measures. No product or locksmith service can guarantee that unauthorized access, theft, burglary, fire, property damage, injury, or other loss will not occur. This warranty is not insurance and does not replace appropriate insurance coverage.

8. Limitation of Implied Warranties

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE APPLICABLE TO A PRODUCT SUPPLIED BY DORKEY IS LIMITED IN DURATION TO ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE OF INSTALLATION OR DELIVERY.

Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.

9. Limitation of Damages

To the extent permitted by law, DorKey is not liable under this limited warranty for incidental or consequential damages, including loss of use, towing, rental vehicles, lost wages, lost profits, business interruption, loss of data, replacement of contents, or unauthorized third-party charges.

This limitation does not apply to personal injury, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.

10. Legal Rights and Policy Changes

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.

The warranty terms in effect when the product or service is purchased will apply to that transaction. Later changes to this policy will not reduce warranty coverage already provided. If DorKey gives the customer specific written warranty terms for a particular product or service before or at the time of purchase, those specific terms control to the extent they differ from this general policy.
